The Ana Ferreira Peak trails are community routes — they're not part of Madeira's official PR trail network managed by IFCN (the regional government's forests & nature authority), so they have no official open/closed status and no guaranteed signage or maintenance. Always check access and conditions locally before setting out.
Two community-mapped AllTrails routes feature Pico Ana Ferreira, both on Porto Santo island:
This is the one most people mean by "Ana Ferreira Peak Trail." It's a circular route on Porto Santo that starts at Cabeço da Ponta beach and heads inland, crossing arid terrain and low vegetation typical of the island's landscape. As you progress, the terrain becomes more rugged until you reach the Pico Ana Ferreira Geosite, where impressive prismatic basalt columns — formed by ancient volcanic eruptions — are the star feature.

A longer alternative loop that starts at the Chapel of St Peter and passes around Pico Ana Ferreira to the baloiço (swing) at Miradouro das Flores, then climbs Espigão Hill for panoramic views before returning.
| Length | 12.9 km (loop) |
| Difficulty | Moderate |
| Estimated time | 4–4.5 hr |
| Community rating | 4.0★ from 29 hiker reviews on AllTrails |
| Highlights | Miradouro das Flores swing, Espigão Hill summit, panoramic Porto Santo views |

⚠️ Neither trail is an official IFCN-recommended PR trail, so treat wayfinding as self-guided — carry a GPS track, and verify conditions locally (especially in summer heat, as Porto Santo has very little shade).
