Community route (mapped on AllTrails) — not part of Madeira's official PR trail network managed by IFCN (the regional government's forests & nature-conservation authority), so it has no official open/closed status or maintenance/signage guarantee. Check access and conditions locally before going.
This is a small, easy walk that leads to a lovely waterfall tucked between the hamlets of Lamaceiros and Feiteira do Nuno in the municipality of Santana. The waterfall is known locally as Aguage, Águaje or Agua D'Alto.

Access to the waterfall is via a small gravel/cement road — it's more of a short stroll than a proper hike. Near the waterfall there's space to turn a car around and park, so you can drive right up if you prefer not to walk the full distance. The waterfall itself is a scenic spot surrounded by Santana's lush greenery, making it a nice quick stop or a gentle outing if you're in the area.

📍 It's only about 7 minutes' drive from Santana village centre, making it a convenient add-on before or after one of the official PR trails nearby (like PR 9 Levada do Caldeirão Verde or PR 18 Levada do Rei).
Because this is not an official IFCN-managed PR trail, there's no official open/closed status to check and no guarantee of maintenance or signage. I'd recommend checking locally (asking at the Santana tourist office or checking with locals) before setting out, and being mindful of conditions after heavy rain, as waterfall access paths can get slippery.
Want me to check the mountain weather forecast + any IPMA warnings for Santana before you go, or show you the official PR trails nearest to Santana as an alternative?
