Starting from the Rabaçal recreation area on the Paul da Serra plateau (E.R. 105), the trail follows the Levada do Alecrim through lush laurissilva forest. The path is sheltered and relatively gentle, winding alongside the levada with occasional small waterfalls. The reward at the end is the stunning Lagoa do Vento (also known as Lagoa Dona Beja) — a natural mountain lagoon where you can cool off on hot days, surrounded by dense forest and dramatic views.

This is one of the most popular and rewarding walks in the Rabaçal / Paul da Serra area — easier and less crowded than the famous 25 Fontes next door, with the bonus of a beautiful lagoon at the turnaround point.
You can combine this walk with others sharing the same trailhead area:
| Trail | Difficulty | Distance | Highlight |
|---|---|---|---|
| PR 6 — Levada das 25 Fontes | Moderate | 4.3 km + return | The famous 25 springs waterfall |
| PR 6.1 — Levada do Risco | Easy | 3 km + return | The Risco waterfall viewpoint |
| PR 6.6 — Vereda do Túnel do Cavalo | — | 2.3 km | Through the historic Rabaçal tunnel |
| PR 6.8 — Levada do Paul II | — | 1.2 km | Accessible trail |
All require the same IFCN access fee (€4.50 via SIMplifica).
