- Levada do Caldeirão Verde 4.6 Directions
"Um Caminho para Todos" translates as A Path for Everyone — and that's exactly what this trail is: a shorter, more accessible paved section of the famous Levada do Caldeirão Verde, designed so that visitors of all ages and mobilities can enjoy the lush Laurisilva forest. It's an official IFCN-managed route in the municipality of Santana.

The trail begins at the beautiful Queimadas Forest Park, home to a traditional thatched-roof shelter house (Casa de Abrigo) that replicates Santana's iconic triangular houses. From there, a paved, gently graded path winds through the ancient Laurisilva laurel forest — a UNESCO World Heritage site — alongside the levada. Being short at just 1.9 km and fully paved, it's suitable for families with small children, visitors with reduced mobility, and anyone who wants a taste of the levada experience without committing to the full PR 9.
The path ends at Pico das Pedras, where you can return the same way or arrange transport back.
