The Ribeirão do Seixal area doesn't have an official IFCN PR (Percurso Recomendado) trail by that exact name. However, there is a well-known community trail that covers this area:
Community route mapped on AllTrails — this is not part of Madeira's official PR trail network managed by IFCN (the regional government's forests & nature authority), so it has no official open/closed status and no maintenance/signage guarantee. Check access and conditions locally before going.
| Difficulty | Hard |
| Length | 7.4 km (loop) |

| Community rating | 4.1★ from 156 hiker reviews on AllTrails |
This is a memorable trail that runs through an area where nature presents itself in its natural, undisturbed form — and it presents hikers with various challenges, especially on rainy days. For these reasons, this trail is recommended for experienced hikers.
The Levada do Seixal (or Feitas) belongs to the Rocha Vermelha. It is 3,265 m long, of which 2,285 m are in tunnels and the remaining 980 m are in an open channel, most of which runs along vertiginous terrain. Expect long, dark tunnel sections (bring a head torch!), exposed sections with steep drops, and dramatic views of the north coast's deep valleys.

If you'd prefer a trail with official status and IFCN signage/maintenance, the closest are:
| PR trail | Difficulty | Distance | Drive from Seixal |
|---|---|---|---|
| PR 15 – Vereda da Ribeira da Janela | Moderate | 2.7 km | ~15 min |
| PR 16 – Levada Fajã do Rodrigues | Moderate | 3.9 km | ~22 min |
| PR 14 – Levada dos Cedros | Moderate | 7.2 km | ~27 min |
All three require an access fee of €4.50 (visitors > 12 years; ≤ 12 free), paid via the SIMplifica portal.
⚠️ Important: The Levada do Seixal route is tunnely and vertiginous — bring a head torch, sturdy footwear, and avoid it in wet weather. Since it's not an official PR trail, there's no IFCN-maintained status update; check local conditions before setting out.
