This linear trail follows an enchanting stretch of the Levada da Serra do Faial along Madeira's East Coast. It offers a wonderful mix of scenery — you'll pass through lush, dense forest alongside the levada, experience the quiet rural atmosphere of the countryside, and glimpse everyday life in the peripheral areas of the eastern coastal municipalities (Santa Cruz and Machico). The variety of landscapes makes this a rewarding and surprisingly diverse walk.
The trailhead is located near Faial, in the municipality of Santana on the north-east coast.
- How to get there: Directions to the trailhead ↗ — routes from your current location.
- No official open/closed status — since this is not an IFCN-managed PR trail, there is no formal status system. Check locally for current access conditions.
- No access fee listed on AllTrails.
The same levada has other mapped segments, if you'd prefer a shorter or different option:

|---|---|---|---|
| Achadinha – Levada da Serra do Faial | 10.6 km | Moderate | 4.1★ |
| Vale Paraíso – Levada da Serra do Faial | 3.9 km | Easy | 3.8★ |
| Santo António da Serra – Levada da Serra do Faial | 11.3 km | Moderate | 3.7★ |
All are community routes (not official IFCN PR trails).
